LAYNE BEACHLEY AO

A Champion for the Community
LAYNE BEACHLEY AO – 7-time World Champion Surfer and Wellness Expert

Layne Beachley is widely regarded as the most successful surfer in history. The only surfer, male or female, to claim six consecutive world titles between 1998 and 2003, she went on to win a 7th world title in 2006 before retiring from the ASP World Tour in 2008. Her story is the testimony to the power of self-belief. A traumatic childhood ignited a flame of desperation to prove she was worthy of love. And her affinity for the ocean and competition created the perfect storm to achieve her dream of becoming the best of the best.

But it was learning how to lose that taught Layne Beachley how to win – 19 years on tour, 29 tour victories and 7 world titles (6 won consecutively, 5 in a state of fear). Her career was an emotional rollercoaster of happiness, injury, adventure, depression, failure and ultimately success. An Officer of the Order of Australia, Chair of Surfing Australia, founder of the Awake Academy and motivational keynote speaker, Layne lives a life of unapologetic honesty. She focuses her energy on igniting potential in others by sharing her experiences about sustaining success, overcoming challenge and maintaining a winning mindset with humour and humility, standing firm in her values with a clear vision for the future. Her sights are firmly set on cultivating connection, growth and happiness in humanity.
